Our goal is to provide you with the best possible martial arts experience.

Here is some helpful information to get the most of our programs:

Attendance:

Regular attendance is very important for your progress. Students should plan to attend a minimum of 2-3 classes per week and make up any missed classes whenever possible.

Training in martial arts is much more than an extracurricular activity; it is an education and your commitment is required. Consistency is key! If you will have to miss class, please be sure to communicate to your instructor and make a plan for your return.

Etiquette:

As a new student, you will hear the word “etiquette” or “respect” repeatedly. This requires practice – etiquette is basically the proper code of behavior for a Martial Artist…  It is the first step to learning!

Simply put — We show respect, so we can learn!

Bowing:

Bowing is a traditional practice and an outward expression of showing respect to others and to your practice. As a student of traditional martial arts, you will bow frequently. It is important to know when and how to bow. Remember that martial art bowing is a type of salute, not a religious practice.

  • You should always bow when you enter and leave the studio.
  • When you first see an instructor, bow to him/her as you greet them.
  • You will always bow when starting and finishing class.
  • Bowing to other classmates and black belts outside the studio is also courteous; bow when you shake their hand.

Always address your instructors by their correct title; or “Sir” or “Ma’am” is also appropriate.
